Music In The Park Builds Community

"Our sons have developed spiritually, academically, and socially through all the programs that are offered at Holy Family, including the Athletics program. The teachers are the heart of the school and the teachers at Holy Family Catholic School are great! They genuinely care about our children."
- Michele Eichhorn

We initially decided to send our children to Catholic school, because we wanted them to enjoy the same small, family-like atmosphere that we had enjoyed growing up in a rural community. We also wanted them to receive religious instruction as part of their overall educational experience. Both of our children have developed a strong faith. Each has been nurtured and cared for by the teachers, staff and families of Holy Family Catholic School.

  • Family Dining Night Out - Feb 15 Please join us at Buffalo Wild Wings in Elmhurst on Wednesday, February 15th for a fun night out with school families, school staff, and parishioners. HFCS will receive 20% of all food purchases that evening.
  • Open House for New Families - April 26 7PM Holy Family has an open house scheduled for new families interested in registering at HFCS.
  • Introducing Lunch Bunch HFCS is pleased to offer a new program beginning February 6th called Lunch Bunch. Lunch Bunch is a structured lunch and recess time that will give students the opportunity to share the lunch period with their peers across all grade levels, learn important social skills and participate in planned enrichment activities. During Lunch Bunch students can choose to participate in different stations (arts and crafts, book clubs, homework station, educational games, team building activities, etc.) that will be monitored by Mrs. Mo and Mrs. Kimmel. If your child is interested in participating in Lunch Bunch as opposed to the regular lunch/recess time, please complete the enclosed permission slip and return it to your child's teacher/the main office. I am very excited to see this program begin and look very forward to watching the students participate in this opportunity.
  • Raising a Millennium Child Series The first event, out of a three part series, is entitled "r u eware?" Detective Richard Wistocki, a US Secret Service Internet Crimes Investigator, will present to our parents on Wednesday, February 8th from 6:30-9pm in the gym. You do not want to miss Detective Wistocki! He bluntly tells parents what is happening online. He shares real stories and real statistics. He also provides practical ways for parents to monitor their child's safety online. Detective Wistocki will be presenting to the 5th-8th grade students earlier that same day.
  • Raffle Winners January 15th drawing:
The Cunningham family won $100, the Belfiore family won $50, and the Steinbrecher family won $25.
    Next Drawing: January 31st.
  • SAVE THE DATE Spring Musical April 20th, Our Junior High students will be performing "Annie," directed by Mrs. DeBartolo, Mrs. Stafford, Mrs. Kimmel and Mrs. Benes. Practices begin in January.
  • Hip to Be Square/Share a Square Parent Club is selling "squares"- similar to football squares during the Super Bowl. The winner of the squares contest will be announced at the Auction, and the grand prize is free tuition for one child for the 2012-2013 academic year. If a non-school family wins, the prize is $2,500. The squares are $100 a piece, but don't forget that you can share a square with other families. While we hope to see ALL of our school families at the Auction, the winner does not need to be present. The one catch to this is that all of the squares need to be sold for this to take place- so be sure to ask family members to purchase a square when you see them over the holidays. You will find a flyer with more details in today's backpack mail.
  • Auction Dinner Dance Information Our auction dinner dance is a wonderful social event that also raises a great deal of money for our school. To give you an idea, the profit of last year's auction was close to $35,000! One of the reasons the auction is so successful are the classroom crafts. Each class creates a special item that gets bid on during the silent auction. The crafts are always creative, fun, and sentimental as well. They are created in part by the students, but parents are needed to coordinate and manage the craft from beginning to end for each classroom. Some past crafts include a bags set with students' fingerprints on them, a Monopoly game created by the students using Holy Family as the theme, a class picture blown up to banner size that the students sign (can you imagine winning this when your child is in kindergarten and then having it hanging at their 8th grade graduation mass?), and a step stool decorated in a spring theme using the student's thumbprints. We need your help in creating and coordinating these crafts with your child's classroom. Don't forget that FISH hours apply for all of the time you spend working on this project! You will find more information in the Thursday backpack mail. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. This is a fun way to get involved!!!
  • Our Strategic Plan Our school board, pastors and principal, working closely with the Catholic Schools office, are ready to take the next step in building our goals and plans for Holy Family Catholic School. Parishioners and school parents are invited to participate in developing this next phase of our strategic plan. For more information, see the Preparing for Our Future letter that was presented in this Thursday's folder and at mass in the bulletins.
  • Boxtops and Campbell's Labels Send them in. Because of your continued support last year, we raised nearly $900 in box tops for education, and 5,000 points in Campbell's Label points. As you are preparing your Thanksgiving and Christmas meals don't forget to clip the box tops and Campbell's Soup labels! Swanson Broth is a Campbell Soup product and Pillsbury and Ziploc are both Box Top products. This is an easy way to support HFCS and help our teachers receive many of the "extras" for their classrooms. Last year we were able to order bean bag chairs, drying racks for art, sidewalk chalk, and classroom listening centers from all of our points.
  • Holy Family Recycling Fund-raising Program: This program runs year-round. Donate your empty printer cartridges and used cell phones to school. Your employer can help out too without spending a cent. Contact our school board for more information.
